What did we solve?

The Kaufland meat-processing plant near Prague and the gradual development of sludge management on site. The entire facility collects wastewater from meat-processing operations and treats it in an on-site industrial WWTP. In the first phase of the project, we implemented dewatering of flotation sludge using a screw press MP-DW-301 in 2017, and as of September 2024 it’s still operating in its original configuration. The positive experience of our customer then led, in 2021, to an expansion of equipment —specifically, a second sludge dewatering line that processes secondary sludge.

Sludge management before

In the past, sludge handling was outsourced to an external company, which became unsustainable as sludge volume grew and prices rose. Another limiting factor was the capacity of the sludge tanks, which was sufficient for roughly 1–2 days of operation.

Team feedback

“It’s clear, simple, and great.” — Operations technician

“Lately I don’t spend much time directly at the treatment plant, but honestly since the installation I’ve almost forgotten we even have a dewatering machine, because the guys ironed out all the bugs in the first few weeks, and I haven’t had to deal with anything since.” — Operations manager
